Accomplishments
Innovative Education

- Greatly improved graduation rates/ increased college attendance.
- Instituted an engineering academy (Fremont), a science and math magnet school (Cortez), a technology school (LaVerne), medical program (Palomares/Pomona), and a film academy (Village Academy).
-Instituted 3 dual language immersion programs (2 Spanish/ English, 1 Mandarin/English)
- Initiated numerous Robotics programs throughout the district
- Instituted numerous academic programs and increased tutoring services and intervention specialists by over 200%.
- Greatly increased the number of students reclassifying out of our English Language Learner program.
-Collaborated with MIT for award-winning student invention.
-Initiated award-winning middle school computer programming course.
- Increased the number of AP classes.
- Initiated dual enrollment courses in our high schools whereby students can simultaneously earn college and high school credit.
-Initiated Transitional Kindergarten.
- Provided Chromebooks for every student. When we first learned of the pandemic, Pomona Unified was the only local school district that had already provided a Chromebook for each student!
- Brought famous authors to high schools for our Cafecito Con Libros program.
-Fully renovated and updated every library in the district.
- Increased the number of counselors by over 100%, with all elementary schools now having counselors.
-Been identified by US News and World Report as having top high schools in the country
-UCLA collaboration for identification of academic/social emotional risk factors.
- Built sports stadiums in all our comprehensive High Schools

Wellbeing & Safety
- Greatly improved our campuses with either major renovations or new school buildings to improve security and improved education environments.
-Instituted active shooter trainings and increased security.
- Instituted an extensive breathing and wellness program to address the mental health challenges experienced by many of our students.
- Increased the number of counselors by over 100%, with all elementary schools now having counselors.
Accomplishments
College/ Career Technical Education
- Started our Medical Career Ladder, a collaboration with Western University.
- Collaborated for exceptional college access programs to include Bright Prospect, National College Resources Foundation, and Upward Bound.
- Arranged for all our 4th and 5th graders to take a tour of Mt. Sac and Cal Poly respectively (suspended during COVID).
- Applied for a grant and has been awarded $3.5 million for increased and improved Career and Technical Education.
- Increased our CTE offerings to include auto shop, culinary arts, and construction. We are partnering with our local unions to prepare our students for careers in numerous fields.
-Created a construction lab for construction trades

Arts
-Increased funding for arts by 100%
- Applied for a $10.5 million grant from Assemblyman Freddie Rodriguez, and are currently in the process of planning new performing arts theaters in all our comprehensive high schools.
- Initiated a ballroom dancing program for all district 5th graders (Conga Kids).
- Created an all- district middle school choir.

- Greatly expanded our PTA’s (from 6 to 22 schools).
- Initiated our popular National award-winning (Magna Award) Parent Leads Program.
